Position Summary
The Housekeeper II reports to the Housekeeping Supervisor and is responsible for daily floor maintenance for both hard floor surfaces and carpet. Also, will be responsible for refinishing hard floors and carpet extraction. This person will also know and be able to perform the daily cleaning responsibilities of the Housekeeper I position. . The ideal applicant is detail oriented and provides excellent customer service.
Essential Duties
Actualizes the ABM Healthcare Support Services Mission, Vision and Value statements.
Maintains professional behavior consistent with role as well as composure in difficult interpersonal situations.
Knows who all their customers are and initiates and maintains positive relationships with them; promotes a customer service mindset at all times with both internal and external customers. Responds to all requests from customers with a can do attitude. Follows up on requests with a sense of urgency.
Initiates and maintains positive relationships with co-workers/associates in an effort to build a strong team.
Adheres to the hospital code of ethics at all times to include regard for patient confidentiality.
Performs cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules and using prescribed methods.
Proactively reports pertinent feedback to Support Services Manager in a timely manner.
Dry mops, spot mops and wet mops floors. Cleans corner and baseboards.
Buffs floors with buffer or burnish with burnisher.
Vacuums and edges carpets with corridor vacuum, upright vacuum, tank vacuum, or other equipment provided.
Scrubs floors with automatic floor scrubber.
Transports trash from utility rooms and other collection points to designated areas. Trash to be compacted or placed in containers. This includes all trash infectious, hazardous, and general.
Learns procedures and duties of Housekeeping I position and perform them when needed.
Changes cubicles and drapes.
Maintains, cleans and properly uses assigned equipment and has repairs made when needed.
Observes and reports the need to repair furniture and building fixtures.
Responds to emergency calls or codes and follows established procedures.
Reports to work on time, in proper attire; requests time off in advance; follows ABM Healthcare Support Services vacation and attendance policies and procedure guidelines.
Follows Universal Precautions/Infection Control Procedure.
Attends in-service programs and department meetings as requested.
Responsible for compliance with Organizational Integrity through raising questions and promptly reporting actual or potential wrongdoing.
Participates in and coordinates with organizational process to collect and evaluate information about hazards and safety practices that are used to identify safety management issues. Adheres to established policies and procedures, which may include wearing of personal protective equipment.
Participates in and fosters a performance improvement approach that includes both intradepartmental and interdepartmental activities.
Completes other duties as assigned by manager.
Moves furniture and sets up meeting rooms.
Assists in cleaning of emergency spills/floods that are observed or requested.
Must have the ability to work a variety of shifts/variable schedules.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job duties may be modified at any time.
Minimum Requirements
A High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Previous housekeeping experience in a healthcare facility is preferred.
Ability to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continual basis.
Must have the ability to work in a team environment interacting with a variety of departments.
Must possess excellent customer service skills.
