Work Schedule: Primarily 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday. Alternate Tours may apply. Alternate tours include, but are not limited to, evening and weekend coverage, 10 hour shifts, 12 hour shifts, etc.
Schedule flexible to meet the needs of the veteran and the VA.
To provide Substance Use Disorder Social Work services to the veteran population enrolled at the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center and other VA community based outpatient clinics aligned with the medical center. The senior social worker will, along with on-site psychiatrists and psychologists, provide individual and group mental health care. Services include provision of high quality case management, clinical treatment, family, individual, and group therapy, advocacy, evidence based threapy, aftercare groups for continuing support, and coordination of linkages to other appropriate VA or community service providers and/or agencies as needed by the client. Makes a clinical assessment identifying the veterans' needs and strengths. Uses advanced clinical training, insight, and experience to interpret data and to identify viable treatment options. The incumbent assesses high risk factors; including suicidality, homicidality, acute need for inpatient stay, and need for inpatient stay, and need for VHA services and community services. The incumbent will independently develop an assessment of the veteran and will include collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team, if necessary.

License, Registration, Certification Requirements (as applicable)
Education Requirements: Senior Social Worker must be licensed or certified by a state at the advanced practice level which included an ASWB advanced generalist or clinical examination.
Experience Requirements: Senior Social Worker have experience that demonstrates possession of advanced practice skills and judgment. At least two years should be in an area of specialized social work practice.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
