Jackson State Model Modernization Coastal Engineer Intern - Summer 2024

Join us for an internship experience that offers real-world project involvement within a supportive environment alongside ample opportunities for professional and personal growth.
At this time, we are seeking 2 Civil (Coastal) Engineering Interns to join our program in Vicksburg, MS and Jackson, MS as a part of the collaborative Numerical Model Modernization Project between Woolpert, USACE ERDC Coastal and Hydraulics Lab and Jackson State University.
This internship will be a full-time position working 40 hours a week during the summer semester (June- August).
The Coastal Engineering Interns will work alongside the Woolpert or USACE ERDC Model Modernization team to set up, run and test models.
Some projects could be testing and validating data in the models, helping to develop a user manual, and helping to develop testing result visualization methods and tools.
All these projects directly impact the communities where we live and work.
Anticipated Projects and Learning Opportunities:
Work collaboratively as a member of an industry leading Model Modernization team Gain real-world experience by working on actual projects alongside subject matter experts in hydrology, hydraulics and coastal (HH&C) numerical models.
Anticipated Projects will include:
Work with Woolpert, Taylor Engineering, and ERDC team to set up, run, and test model(s) (ADCIRC, CSTORM, SBeach, CShore, others) in a cloud and/or on-prim environment to support the Architecture Team Work with Woolpert, Taylor, and ERDC team to validate, verify, and determine uncertainty in Coastal Storm Risk Management models and workflow.
Aid development of a user manual for applying the CSRM workflow in an Azure cloud environment.
Aid development of CSRM testing and results visualization methods and tools.
Perform tasks and solve problems with a high degree of independence Actively participate in summer intern program activitiesRequirementsDon't have all of these? That's ok, we know you're coming to learn.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
