Entry level position performing computer aided drafting tasks in support of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and engineering operations while under direct supervision.
1. Audits, reconciles, and corrects Corporate Property Records, GIS Automated Mapping/Facility Management Geographic Information Systems, Gas and/or other engineering databases.
2. Performs routine calculations and drafting duties in digitizing geographical data by creating a multi-layered GIS data base with new streets, subdivisions, addresses, and other land features used for projects design, construction, and maintenance.
3. May modify graphics and/or data base attributes to correspond to field verification of facilities.
4. May apply AS-Built changes, mapping corrections, leak, and prepare Maintenance Jobs for permanent mapping and record keeping.
5. May create computer-aided drawings, graphics, and images to facilitate communication of engineering and customer service ideas and concepts.
6. Maintain political and jurisdiction boundaries used in internal reporting of territories and distribution property inventories, and corporate and regulatory taxing.
7. Generate, reproduce, and maintain files of plans, maps, and engineering drawings.
8. Prepares processes and otherwise handle electronic or hardcopy documents, forms and/or other data as required.
Education/Experience Level
High school education with two years of natural gas, utility or related industry experience, or equivalent.
Communication Skills
Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers in order to obtain and/or provide basic types of factual information.
Numeric Skills
Requires the ability to perform basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Computer Skills
Requires proficient computer skills for data entry, reporting, reference and/or retrieval tasks.
Work Conditions
Works in an office environment. Requires occasionally performing activities including, but not limited to, bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning and/or lifting.
