Job Description
Summary:
Perform the upper-level complexity of jobs and functions within the district, focusing on AT&T GPON design.
This engineering grade could be turf oriented but at a larger scale than a Grade 2 Engineer, since they would only be handling the complex work as fiber, digital loop electronics, and major relief projects in the wire centers they are responsible for. It is expected that this job title would have knowledge of all the engineering functions in the district and should be available as a resource person for new technology. All job preparation to support the listed responsibilities is to be in the form of CAD drawings. Rush jobs on paper to expedite service will be accepted on occasion to get the job started, but must be shortly followed up with the completion of electronic drawings, fully encoded, entered in JMS and of a form to be acceptable to the customer's method of electronic distribution.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/
Responsibilities:
Being responsible for major project work such as Digital Loop Electronics, fiber, large relief projects, and other complex work for assigned wire centers.
Being the first point of contact for the complex jobs.
Making sure jobs are scheduled to meet customer service requirements.
Working with LCMs to establish service plans and coordinate service.
Meeting with other utilities as power companies, gas, water, CATV, municipalities on large projects and coordinating actions
Joint use coordination: Joint use poles and joint trench.
Location and protection of customer facilities.
Relocation of customer facilities on large projects as required by local, city, and state municipality construction projects.
Prepare billing estimates for requested work by the above.
Prepare authorizations for the complex work of the district in the wire centers of assigned responsibility.
Must have experience and a working knowledge of BSTCAD
Digital Loop Electronics jobs to include all the types currently used by the district.
Experience in fiber relief jobs and fiber service jobs as GPON, FTTC, FTTB, and VRAD.
Fiber jobs for interoffice facilities.
Relief jobs to correct F1 facility congestion problems. This could involve major facility additions or rearrangements of Digital Loop Electronics or fiber.
Securing field notes as needed in buried, aerial, and underground environments.
Preparing splicing sequences to outline the correct flow of the activities of the job using the method in the customer practice.
Coordinate material ordering as needed to support the job.
Coordinate the ordering of cable transfer sheets to support the job.
Research FACS records to check facilities.
Administrative functions to support the above.
Completing ROW requests as needed.
Securing Federal, Sate, City, County, railroad, pipeline and other permits as required.
Prepare paperwork for material and equipment ordering and pricing the job.
Preparing all of the associated forms for Digital Loop Electronics and fiber for input into the AT&T systems.
Creating and compiling the job folder in the Job Management Systems.
Preparing all related forms to go with the job.
Providing loop makeup as required.
Complete input of information into various computer systems and databases to support the work.
Scheduling work and coordination with construction forces on any of the above work functions. This may involve attending the scheduling meetings as needed to support the Project Manger. At the least they would be expected to keep Project Manager aware of their status of the job in area of responsibility.
Perform other work-related duties as required.
Skills/Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents, drawings, and prints.
Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
Ability to interact with clients, team members, and vendors to support the organization and senior management.
Moderate computer skills including MS Office, MS Outlook, EXCEL, and WORD.
EDUCATION and
Experience:
Bachelor's degree in telecommunications, engineering, or related field.
Equivalent OSP experience and/or training considered and preferred.
Demonstrate knowledge of telecommunications concepts.
General electrical knowledge as resistance, transmission loss (db), gauge of cable requirements, bridge tap effect, loading, repeaters, etc.
Knowledge of fiber and digital loop electronics fundamentals.
Mus have experience with BSTCAD systems.

Experience in fiber relief jobs and fiber service jobs as GPON, FTTC, FTTB, and VRAD.

Valid driver's license is required. Driving record should not include any moving violations within the past year.TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Travel is required within the state.
