Registered Nurse (Nurse Manager)

The Nurse Manager (NM) is responsible for coordinating care across the continuum for a select group of Veterans. This includes, but is not limited to, promoting collaboration and planning across multidisciplinary care service lines with Providers and Veterans in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The NM demonstrates a high level of clinical expertise, leadership, and creative approaches to management of complex care and administrative duties as assigned. The NM is directly accountable to the Nurse Executive/ Associate Director Patient Care Services through the Associate Chief Nurse/Primary Care (ACN/PC). Displays leadership and participates in/on unit-level or VISN level Performance Improvement Teams, Risk Management processes, or Root Cause Analysis processes. Participates in the development and implementation of operational plans that impact the ability to provide safe, effective, quality patient care and policies which impact staff and/or patient care delivery models. Ensures that nursing practice is consistent with external standards such as The Joint Commission and internal standards such as the VA Performance Measures. Collaborates with the ACN/PC in planning and monitoring the budget for his/her area of responsibility. Providing care and counseling for Veterans in the promotion and maintenance of health and prevention of illness and injury based upon the nursing process in support of improving or maintaining Veterans' functional status and well-being. Creates a positive work environment which enhances care delivery and professional development of clinically competent staff. Responsible and accountable for appropriate orientation, education, continuing professional development of nursing personnel (ANM, RN, LVN/LPN, CNA, administrative staff). Assigning work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and the requirements of the assignments, and the capabilities of subordinates; Accountable for accurate and timely completion of initial and annual evaluations and documenting competency of personnel assigned to areas of responsibility. Identifying developmental and training needs of subordinates and providing or making provision for such development and training (VA Handbook 5007, Part III, Chapter 8). Makes daily unit rounds modeling leadership, and customer service while observing and assessing performance, environment of care and interdisciplinary processes. Performs the duties of a Care Manager as outlined by the PACT RN Care Manager functional statement as required during staffing shortages. Work Schedule:

Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant:
The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Experience:
2-3 years f management experience in a supervisory/lead capacity over multiple RNs, LPNs, and/or Health Technicians. 3 years recent experience (within the last 5 years) in an Ambulatory Care setting. Preferred Certification:

The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade:
Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience required. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
