The incumbent performs a variety of clerical, administrative, and technical duties/responsibilities in support of the administrative management of Medical Service. Major duties of this position include but are not limited to:
Types a wide variety f correspondence including but not limited to memorandums, technical (medical) and non-technical correspondence, reports, service policies, lay letters, Congressional and VACO inquiry responses; Records and transcribes minutes of the Medical Service Staff meetings and ad hoc committees that the ACOS is called upon to chair; Maintains control of Action Item correspondence; performs follow-up action to ensure timely reply/action; Maintains daily appointment calendar for the ACOS; Received and logs outgoing correspondence, reviewing it for correct format, punctuation, spelling, grammatical accuracy, factual correctness, enclosures, dates, signatures, and complete addresses; Acts as a liaison with the Human Resources office coordinating personnel actions (i.e. submits SF-52s in HRSmart, employee clearance from indebtedness), etc. Sponsors Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Program badges for staff and trainees; Plans and coordinates a variety of general office support such as storage and maintenance of office supply stock levels and entry of work orders; Enters employee work tours, accurately and timely posts tours of duty, annual leave, sick leave, authorized absence, etc. in the VA Time and Attendance System (VATAS); Post Intermittent and Fee-Basis employee timecards manually calculating hours worked by rate of pay and maintains appropriate documentation for part-time physicians; Serves as Medical Service's backup Talent Management System (TMS) coordinator and assists staff with processing education requests (e.g. Continuing Medical Education). Establishes and maintains office control systems such as those for the control of the location, arrangement, access to and use of office files, and transfer or disposition of records within established agency guidelines; Receives and assists with inquiries from the Patient Advocate through the Patient Tracking System Replacement (PATS-R) program, Congressional Inquiries, White House Correspondences, etc. related to care provided by Medical Service; Tracks deadline for response and assures correspondences are resolved in PATS-R system within prescribed timeframes Work Schedule:

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience Requirement:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-05) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Performing receptionist duties and providing clerical support services; use of personal computers, windows platforms, high capacity-copying machines, fax, and multi-line phone systems; experience with security technology such as Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Cards and Microsoft Rights Management System (RMS); use of various Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and SharePoint; typing a wide variety of correspondence such as memos, letters, reports, and preparing minutes; experience with and understanding of medical, administrative, and industrial terminology; performing timekeeping duties; scheduling and coordinating appointments. Evidence of specialized experience must be supported by resume with detailed documentation of duties performed in positions held. . Typing Requirement:
A qualified typist is required for this position. You must be able to type at least 40 words per minute (WPM). You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position:

The work is mostly sedentary, however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items such as papers, books, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work which is typically performed in an adequately lighted and climate-controlled office. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
