Social Worker (Program Coordiator)

The Social Worker (General Caregiver Support Program Coordinator) is administratively responsible for the clinical programming and daily operations of the General Caregiver Support Program. Develops policies and procedures for program operation and prepares reports and statistics for facility, VISN, and national use. The Coordinator may be responsible for the program's budget and various control points assigned to the program within the assigned areas. The Coordinator manages and controls the use of data related to these programs regarding day to day functioning and program evaluation. Plans, organizes and directs administrative, operational, caregiver, Veteran and personnel activities for the program. The GS-12 Social Worker (General Caregiver Support Program Coordinator) has experience that demonstrates the advanced practice skill level in social work. At least two years of experience should be in an area of specialized social work practice. The Coordinator must be independently licensed by a state to practice at the advanced practice level. The Coordinator will function in support of caregivers, Veterans and family members throughout the medical center and in community settings. The GS-12 Social Worker (General Caregiver Support Program Coordinator) is practicing at the advanced level and has specialized knowledge of practice that can be differentiated from the independent practice social worker by the ability to expand clinical knowledge in the profession, administer a facility General Caregiver Support Program, provide consultation and guidance to colleagues, role model effective social work practice skills, teach or provide orientation to less experienced social workers, develop innovations in practice interventions, and provide clinical supervision for social work licensure or certification. The General Caregiver Support Coordinator position requires advanced knowledge and understanding of the services and benefits available for caregivers from both federal, state and private sector resources. As an advanced practice level clinical social worker, the Coordinator is assigned to work independently with multiple VA healthcare services and with community agencies, leaders and organizations where he/she has no access to direct social work clinical supervision. The Coordinator is responsible for developing and establishing linkages and collaborates on VA caregiver support efforts with community healthcare and social service agencies. The Coordinator is administratively responsible and accountable for the clinical and program development and effectiveness of the facility General Caregiver Support Program. The Social Worker (General Caregiver Support Program Coordinator) will adhere to the NASW Code of Ethics, all local social work policies, and maintain an unrestricted, unsuspended license to practice social work. Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. Social Workers appointed to direct patient-care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d). Licensure:
Must possess a full, current, and unrestricted license by a state to independently practice social work at the master's level. Current state requirements may be found on the OHRM website. There is no licensure exception for this grade level. Grade Determinations for Social Work (Program Coordinator) GS-12:
Experience and Education. One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressively more professional competency. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. Licensure/Certification. Individuals assigned as social worker program coordinator must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level (additional details below), and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate all of the following KSAs:
(a) Knowledge of program coordination and administration which includes consultation, negotiation, and monitoring. (b) Knowledge and ability to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines for the program. (c) Ability to supervise multidisciplinary staff assigned to the program. (d) Skill in organizing work, setting priorities, meeting multiple deadlines, and evaluating assigned program area(s). Advanced Practice Level is defined as the ability to provide independent and expert clinical psychosocial and case management services in a specialized area of practice to Veterans who tend to have serious and severe crises, may lack any familial and community support, may be poor self-monitors, may frequently fail to comply with instructions and treatment, or may have major deficits in coping skills and require continuing professional psychological support. The advanced practice or senior social worker has an increased depth and breadth of practice skills; has expertise in participating in the professional development of colleagues through mentorship and teaching; demonstrates leadership in developing and expanding professional intervention strategies; demonstrates leadership in defining and attending to professional practice issues; and has the ability to expand the conceptual knowledge of the profession. The advanced practice or senior social worker will make independent professional decisions and recommendations for agency action; the consequences to the Veteran of these decisions and actions may be quite serious. Work involves intensive social work services requiring the exercise of mature professional judgment and the flexible use of a wide range of complex social work practice skills not typically required in routine social work interventions. The advanced practice or senior social worker has mastered a range of specialized interventions and provides consultation to colleagues, renders professional opinions based on experience and expertise, develops new models of psychosocial assessment or intervention, and incorporates complex multiple causation in differential diagnosis and treatment. Must be in overall good health, able to sit at a desk working at a computer, engage in light to moderate physical activity including sitting, walking, bending, and carrying supplies. Applicants must be able to perform primarily light and sedentary duties with occasionally moderate physical demands, exercise patience, and control emotions, with reasonable accommodation if necessary, without endangering the health and safety of the applicant or others. Position requires walking throughout the clinic and the Medical Center, standing for extended periods of time, and involves sitting at a computer and in counsel and consultation with Veterans and interdisciplinary teams. Position may require minimal travel into the community to meet with community agencies and partners who assist and support to the Caregiver Support program, its Veterans and caregivers. This position also requires close visual acuity to perform an activity such as:
preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; and repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
